Alabhya Lakhanpal

I am highly obliged that I’m a part of Aditya Mehta Foundation. Not everyone gets this chance to show sheer modesty and humbleness. I am Alabhya Lakhanpal, an 18 year old, student in IHM HYD. Striving to achieve something great in future and these are the small footsteps I’m taking to make this world a better place to live in. I am a football player myself, I played SGFI in football, I know how sportsman spirit is. I am a sheer enthusiast and I hope that I perform my responsibilities with full dedication. I had humanities in class 12th and from that I have learnt a lot of things like how society works and what are the responsibility of a citizen. My father is in BSF I know exactly how para military works what are the norms and morals, I personally believe that morality and discipline can change the world. Right from day one I have been told that nothing is bigger than the country (matribhumi). It is my karma that has brought me here in this place so that I could dedicate my time and energy helping others to get medal for the country and so that I can hear our national anthem in the concluding day. It literally melts my heart, nothing can be bigger than this for a patriot like me.

Once again I am grateful to and inspired by the para-atheletes and team members for the support and encouragement.

Why am I doing this?

The Aditya Mehta Foundation is a NGO that supports physically challenged people in our nation to pursue sports and support them from the grassroot level by providing counseling, training, equipment and help them to live a life with dignity. In the last five years the foundation has supported a surplus of 150 para-athletes with prosthetic limbs, specialized sports equipment, and sponsorships. This sort of support costs anywhere in between Rs 40,000/- to Rs. 5Lakhs per person. Many of these para athletes who seek support from the foundation have won more than 80 International medals for our country in various International Games. The Infinity Ride is a fundraising ride which helps the Foundation to support more such people, with the aim of

  • Helping more and more physically challenged people unlock their true potential and fulfill their true potential and lead more fulfilling lives, and
  • Putting up a strong Indian Contingent at the 2020 Paralympics.

This year the Infinity Ride 2020 , starts in November, from the northern state of Kashmir to the southern most part of India, kanyakumari ! I’m excited and honoured and eagerly looking forward to be a part of this experience.
