Prakhar

I am Prakhar Sharma, 19-years-old. The left side of my brain has some dead cells which makes my right side paralyzed, making me 70% disabled and in medical terms I have Cerebral Palsy since birth. My parents pushed me into sports since I was a child and any kind of sport inspires me to give my best. I think sports is a very good teacher which teaches you self-discipline, teamwork and helps manage stress. I started with martial arts and got a Green Belt, and next I played state level clusters in basketball for my school.

What motivated me for this:

In 2019, I came to know about Aditya Mehta Foundation camp in Ahmedabad for para-sports. It was a life changing event for me, where I met many inspiring sportspersons and got selected for Table Tennis and Cycling.

In 2020, I represented Karnataka States para-sports in Table Tennis and got a Bronze

medal. Then I represented Karnataka at national level and reached the quarter finals. I am also an ardent and regular cyclist. It helps serve many purposes for me like commuting, fitness, exploring and as a stress buster. I participate in cycling events very often and since the pandemic I have covered over 10000 km on my cycle.

I would like to thank AMF for giving me one more chance in cycling through this ride. My next goal is to represent India in the 2024 Para Olympics.

Why am I doing this?

The Aditya Mehta Foundation is a NGO that supports physically challenged people in our nation to pursue sports and supports them from the grassroot level by providing counseling, training, equipment and helps them live a life with dignity. Since their inception the foundation has supported more than 150 para-athletes with prosthetic limbs, specialized sports equipment, and sponsorships. This sort of support costs anywhere in between Rs 40,000/- to Rs. 5 lakhs per person.

A proud moment for AMF is that many of these para athletes have won more than 100 plus national and international medals for our country. The upcoming Infinity Ride is a fundraising ride which helps the foundation support more such people, with the aim of unlocking their true potential and lead more fulfilling lives, while putting up a strong Indian Contingent at the 2024 Paralympics.

AMF is now geared up for our Infinity Ride 2021 – Hyderabad to Gokarna from December 22nd to 27th 2021. The theme for this ride, while promoting para-sports, is ‘Say No to Drugs’ and to adopt children with disability to train them in para-sports.

Together, we can all help make a difference in the world of Para-Athletes! We are excited and raring to ride! Are you?!

Contribute to make a difference.

Heartfelt Thanks to You for your contribution!
